Day 74: Covid Business Boost Rancourt & Co. Shoe Crafters: Handcrafted in Maine
DAY 74: Rancourt and Co. Shoe Crafters. June 28th
There was a time in Maine when handcrafted shoes, wove a source of pride thru & stitched life into so many communities.
The reminder of those days are in stories from older generations & brick factories along our powerful rivers.
Remember getting your 1st pair of boat shoes or moccasins made in Maine?
My boost for today is for one of the handful of
Made in Maine shoe companies that is still in operation and has asked for help thru crowd-sourcing.
Rancourt and Co. Shoe Crafters: each pair of shoes is in handcrafted in Lewiston in family owned factory.
Selected styles are now available at wholesale price.
They make shoes for men & women and several styles are gender neutral.
In 2 days of crowd-sourcing, they've received enough orders to keep the factory running full time for 6 weeks.
The covid shutdown has hit so many small family businesses hard.
It would be loss to the culture of Maine to lose the any of the remaining shoe makers.
Check out their online store, factory store in Lewiston or on Washington Ave in Portland.
