Day 59: Covid Business Boost: Equality Community Center: LGBTQ Community

DAY 59: The Equality Community Center June 12th
June 12, 2016 while most of us were peacefully sleeping, a heartbreaking act of violence was being unleashed on the LGBTQ+ community in Orlando and the shock-waves were felt around the world.

On June 12, 2016, 49 people murdered and 58 others wounded in a mass shooting.

As of June 12, 2016, this was the deadliest single gunman mass shooting in United States history and the deadliest incident of violence against LGBTQ+ people in U.S.
This hate crime, was second deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil since the September 11 attacks of 2001.

Words CANNOT convey the depth of heartbreak & shattering that I felt/feel along with my LGBTQ+ family around the world.

My boost for today is for a group of people who hold strong in a vision of supporting & lifting up the LGBTQ community in Maine
The Equality Community Center (ECC) was coming into vision in 2014 and officially opened in the summer of 2016. The ECC houses Equality ME, Pride Portland! SAGE, Me Trans Net, PFLAG, GLSEN.

My deepest heartfelt thanks to the visionary people who made this dream a reality.
