Day 96: Covid Business Boost Full Plates Full Potential: Eating and Thriving

DAY 96: Full Plates Full Potential: July 19th

Non-profit Sunday.
An aspect of the national conversation around covid is focused on when, how & if to re-open schools and keeping everyone healthy and safe.

A quieter conversation, which needs to come to the forefront is about childhood hunger.
So many kids in Maine literally need that 1 meal a day they get at school.
If schools don't re-open; how do communities respond to this ever present issue?

My boost for today is for
FULL PLATES FULL POTENTIAL; they are working to provide solutions & support for kids across our state.
43% of all Maine Public School children rely on school meals to get the nutrition they need.
43%....take that in.

Due to increasing income insecurity due to covid, the need will become even more pressing.
Even though these students qualify for school meals, too many of them face barriers to accessing school meals.

Full Plates works to ensure that every eligible child has access to nutritious food so that they can learn, grow and thrive.

This is not a new issue; check out the map on their site.
Full Plates Full Potential is in need of resources & volunteers.
